Includes a narrative which examines Bright's training and military experiences. Discusses his landing at Omaha Beach, Normandy on June 7, 1944, the carnage left in the wake of the invasion, and the torment of living on the beachhead under constant sniper fire. Describes many brushes with death during fierce combat in Europe in which he ascribes his survival to divine intervention. Also provides details surrounding Bright's serious injury sustained at St. Lo which nearly killed him. Provides an account of his bravery in protecting a telephone line during a German counter-attack. Also discusses his joy in finding and joining the LDS church with his family after his discharge. Maps show, in great detail, the routes taken by both the 2nd Infantry Division and the 144th Field Artillery Corps in Europe. Photograph shows Bright in full military dress at war's end.

Bright served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 during World War II. He was first assigned to the 2nd Division of the 9th Infantry, and later was a member of the 144th Field Artillery Unit in Europe.
